Looking into the future...

Even since becoming the agent of time, things really haven't changed. He still earns his keep the same way as ever, with nerves of steel and a quick trigger finger. Just the targets have changed.
He didn't even know the man's name, just that for crimes against the timeline, he had to be eliminated before he did real harm. It was quick and painless, only took one bullet. The date on the paper on the desk told him he was in the early 21st century somewhere, and everything seemed to fit.
Except for the multi-faceted artifact, hovering behind him. Jonah turns, staring it down as it turns, revealing facet after facet, those that have showed so many endless possibilities, so much of what might be or will be.
But Jonah... Jonah sees nothing.
And then fades, to return to his lonely work once more.
