Selina isn't entirely certain how long she's been sitting here. The only thing she knows for sure is that the sun hasn't come back up and, a little worrisomely, John has not yet come back from the bar. She hasn't entirely expected him to but...

It would have been nice.

It would have been nice to have company.

Carefully, she starts to stand up. Maybe she can head out to the roof. The climb will be a little harder but she should be able to make it up there. Maybe she'll feel better with a view of the skyline.

One can never be too cautious with the care and security of pharmaceuticals. The clinic houses easily hundreds of thousands of dollars in prescription and over the counter drugs. Ultimately, responsibility for those drugs falls on the shoulders of the chief physician. Leslie takes that responsibility seriously. Inventory once reported a reasonable supply of penicillin. It would have been the truth had one of the orderlies not taken that supply to the streets for a quick sale. Now she randomly picks a day and counts with her own two eyes for accuracy. At least once a week, she'll set the time aside. If not twice.

She moves from the antibiotics to the codeine.

Barbara Gordon-Grayson's birthdays can come and go, but never will they pass without notice while Dick is around.

The initial present -- a state of the art, brand new rice cooker, awaiting her in the kitchen when she gets up this morning -- contains a more indulgent gift: a full day at a trusted and specialized spa.

And Dinah Lance has been given strict instruction to accompany her and ensure that she makes the most of it.

These kinds of things, he's been informed, are better undertaken with company.

His own day, sans wife, starts out with his daughter thinking it's a great idea to drink from the cat's water dish.

There are those moments where she is flying when she's reached the heights and is heading back down when Diana falls.

The world spreads out below her like a multicolored tapestry and she lets go. Her arms spread wide like a diver at the top of their leap she is at the mercy of gravity and the wind currents tugging her this way and that.

She is never able to explain that not flying is more exciting than flying is to her. Trusting that she will catch herself before she hits the earth like Icarus brushing too near the sun and losing his wings.

This time as she falls a glint of silver catches her eye. Pacing her is a silver orb that stops its motion when she does. Curious, Diana is watching it when one facet sparks a liquid silver gleam.
