Global Hunger...turns to Global Plague

The closest Aurora has ever seen to this was when whooping cough swept through the Commune. Their belief system didn't factor in immunizations, and so they were hit hard. She remembers Grandma Joan rallying the Commune residents to turn the saloon-turned-meeting hall into a makeshift hospital, setting up cots and having people carry the beds from the beds-and-breakfasts down and set up. It would be about a week before the medicine would come. They had herbs in the meantime, often just as effective.
In the end, two people died. One of them was a newborn - River Morgan. The other was Grandma Joan.
Aurora quickly rallies the activists and the still-mobile, telling them about this incedent as she silently asks Grandma Joan for advice...
911 doesn't work, but after about three attempts at various mumbers, she finally gets through to the "public" number to Titans Tower.
