Cris Allen takes a great deal of satisfaction in wiping that off the whiteboard and replacing it with the JUAREZ that signified success. Case closed. Perp in the box. Now it was up to Hudson to make sure he didn't drop the ball.

He glances at his watch, then goes over to Stacy's desk. "Dent here yet?" he asks the receptionist.

"No, not yet." The young woman stands on tiptoe, leaning against her desk to get a better view of the nearby stairwell. "But that may be him...."

That's all Allen needs to hear. Time for him to take his position, in front of Montoya's desk, and hope she doesn't come back too quickly from TARU. Sure, she'd bristle at him once she realized why he asked her to go, but that's all right. She could yell at him later.

Right now all he cared about was making sure his partner didn't have to see the scumbag who thought she was his true love.
