He struggles, but to no avail. He has no strength left, and clearly, Light has no mercy. He can't even look at the fallen as Light gestures to them... the people he failed because when it came down to it, he couldn't kill Light.
Even speaking just turns up a wash of blood over his lips and a choking sound. He failed, and now Light isn't even going to kill him... just make him hear the death screams... and worse.
For once, there isn't going to be a last second save. It was up to him... and he failed.
