Ubu moved silently across the tatami floor bearing a tray of tea.
The room was lit by softly glowing paper lanterns and the sound of rain outside tapped out it’s soothing rhythm.
All of this was lost upon Nyssa however.
"Leave the tea there Ubu." Her voice, though neutral still carried a sliver of ice in its timbre. The exacting and ruthless mien of the Demon’s Head seemed to have permeated the soul of his daughter these days.
It was not something for Ubu to question however. Bowing with reverence he placed the tray where instructed and retreated from his mistresses presence with soundless haste.
Alone once more, the dark eyes of the Demon’s Head reviewed the culmination of her research. These notes only existed in hardcopy, and once she was satisfied with their accuracy she set them alight.
She watched as the documents burned brightly on the porcelain plate. Timing was crucial and the events thus far had played out according to her design. It was time to release her castle and fortify her bishop.
As the last ashes winked away in low red tatters, Nyssa rose to her feet.
"Ubu," She called. "It is time. Prepare the jet."
