A heavy, hazing feeling is the first thing Caleb registers when he wakes up. It doesn’t take long for him to remember how he came to be on the floor, though mustering the coherence to get back up doesn’t come quite as quickly.
The first thing his mind actively registers is that his magical sense is rather useless just now. The level of ambient magic is heavy and constant; enough to overshadow all other signatures in the area. The effect is perfect in it’s simplicity: He can’t be certain exactly what he would be drawing in, so he can’t siphon without the risk of harming his teammates.
Well, she doesn’t want us dead, or we wouldn’t still be here. She just wanted us out of the way… but why? … Even money says it’s Corrine. Dear God, I hope I’m not too late!
The sound of the amulet hitting the floor is what first draws his attention to its presence, the feeling of it in his hand having somehow failed to register.
The Al Koyet’s amulet. It was obviously left in his hand on purpose, but why? His senses are akin to useless at the moment, so he doesn’t know why Bird left it with him.
Is he meant to release something inside, or safeguard its prison? And even if he knew what her intentions were, should he abide by them?
If it were dangerous, she wouldn’t have effectively disabled my powers before giving it to me. But I can’t be certain she’s the one who gave it to me… He slides it into his pocket, picks up his gun, and heads into the halls.
First priority is to rally.

Date: 2007-06-09 07:48 am (UTC)Near the coms room, he picks up the first critter he senses, shredding it into thousands of tiny sharp bits... then launching them in a wave at any others near.
Its a slow sweep, starting by trying to clear Zan some room, then heading for the first additional sign of consciousness, continuing to use a wave of sharp metal ahead of him to clear any crawlers, avoiding any organics.
By the time he gets to Caleb, he's 'seen' quite a bit.
"Sitrep and condition?"

Date: 2007-06-09 02:39 pm (UTC)The Lantern is a welcome sight indeed.
“Amelia’s crawlers have pulled a Trojan Horse. In my case at least premeditatedly non-lethal force, but you’re the first person other than myself that I’ve seen. Communications are jammed, as are my mystic senses.”
He motions to some of the crawler debris. “Oh, do be cautious in disabling them. Something inside is explosive.”

"Life signs in the base are stable, but something's wrong with most of them. Paralyzed, mostly. Some odd readings. Can't find Tefe...."

Date: 2007-06-09 06:09 pm (UTC)"No. I get a sense of where she was... something was done to her, total change in the readings... and then... she was gone. I'm searching for trails out by the crawlers. Anyone else I should be looking for?"

Date: 2007-06-09 02:32 pm (UTC)He's used to hangovers. But this feels like he mixed his alcohols more than he remembers doing.
Of course, he doesn't really remember much.

Date: 2007-06-09 02:49 pm (UTC)But at least she can't see what happens outside unlike the times men imprisoned her away from the Green so she couldn't escape. They had known the truth when they had locked her away. Others saw her as the hope to bring the red and green together.
They had known she was born to be a weapon.
Cut away from the Green there is nothing but her own thoughts.
It's boring.

Date: 2007-06-09 07:39 pm (UTC)He presses his thumb into the glyph on the back, and speaks the proper incantation. A white mist pours out of the amulet, and re-assumes it’s natural form next to Caleb.
He holds the amulet up for Tefe to see. “Amelia?”

Date: 2007-06-09 09:47 pm (UTC)She still understands why Amelia was doing it, that doesn't mean she's not going to kick her ass when she sees her again.
"Where's Hank?" Reaching out to find everyone at the same time she asks.

Date: 2007-06-09 10:11 pm (UTC)Because of this, he's come to, and he immediately feels Tefe reaching to him.
He sends a mental broadcast out to anyone in the base. We are in a world of problems. I'm in the bitch's workshop area. Could use a fastheal if someone has a moment. A pause. And before anyone says anything about the sitrep - it's worse than you think. I'll explain when I get topside.

Date: 2007-06-10 01:25 am (UTC)OK, in brief. I finally managed to get around that hard-to-read brain pattern thing Ms. Zukov had going for her, and what I read even threw me for a loop.
Hank then starts transmitting mental images of what was read in her mind, and the people she was dealing with. Apparently the older, uglier woman and the man who's too proud of his own dick are relatives of Corrine. They more or less struck a deal with Amelia to extract her, because of some...prophecy or another. The younger girl...is Crystal. Don't ask me how, don't ask me why, but she's no longer a child...and my guess is by the way she's hanging on this...Louis guy she's probably no longer...well, lets move on. Plan was always to get Corrine out of here...The older woman, Angela...wanted Tefe' personally...oh, and to top the whole thing off with a not-so-cherry, Magique's one of their hired guns for what they feel will probably be our imminent retaliation...

Date: 2007-06-10 01:49 am (UTC)He runs his fingers through his hair as he sits at the computer station, and begins looking for the proper spot on the security tapes. He’s going to find out what happened to Corrine. He’s going to see for himself exactly what his sister did.
Do you know where are they taking her, for what purpose, or on what time frame?

Date: 2007-06-10 03:08 am (UTC)So hopefully Corrine isn't too fond of her.
Reaching Trevor she'll start to grow his cells and repair the damages he took from the attack.

Date: 2007-06-10 04:26 pm (UTC)"Coldcoldcoldcold...needfirewarmcolccoldcold..."
After several attempts to grip the balls in his pack Trevor gives up, stuffing his hand into the pack and letting the panic take over and force fire from his frostbitten hand. Only the grenades touching his hand go off at first, but then the rest follow in a pyrotechnic display that Trevor tries to shield Tefe from with his body. As the explosives and incendiaries explode Trevor basks in it, then draws the heat off and into himself before standing up. He barely seems to register the few errant flames licking at what's left of his clothes, and instead looks at Tefe.
"Who's hurt, who's on scene, and where the FUCK is Amelia?"

Date: 2007-06-10 04:44 pm (UTC)Sorry Trev, this may sting a bit. He core dumps the discussion so far directly into Trevor's memory, then continues. I think I may have a general where - what it looks like, it was a location that was in Amelia's brain - dear girl really needs to look into better mental safeguards if she's going to fuck with a telepath, half-demon or no - as to the when - not sure, but the last vestiges I got of Amelia when I went down were of utter panic, so I can't imagine it being too long before all of our poor, jealous siblings are gathered to kick in their nefarious plot.

Date: 2007-06-11 01:46 am (UTC)He tosses the stone with the runes to Caleb. "There's an enchantment on this that will automatically draw the enchanter to anywhere, or anyone, that can be clearly...the word Wesley used was "passionately"...envisioned by the user, and anyone else within physical proximity of them. It had three charges when I started - the first one was a fizzle, the second one got me here." He looks at Caleb directly. "The third one's going to take us to Corrine, but we've got one shot. If that fails, we'll need to do intel to find them and it may be too long and too late."

*No sign of Doc Manhattan... lovely. And if he did show, he won't fall for my same trick again. I don't know these foes... and I know there's some bad blood here and there between the groups, none of which involves me. What do you guys want me doing? Helping somewhere specific, playing support, or watching for unanticipated reinforcements?*
