She switches to a private channel and drops the synthesized voice. "I love a man willing to dress like a flying creature to fight crime." She turns serious. "I was hoping you'd volunteer. This is one of those times I'm glad you have the robot. This kind of mission could use someone who has a full-body waldo in his closet."

There is a long pause as Oracle verifies the requested mission profile. "Thank you, Green Lantern Arisia. Please stand by for contact information."

"Please report for briefing." She rattles off the coordinates for the meeting and wonders which underwear joke he will make.

He's on his way immediately, shifting into a giant flying monkey.

"Do you need me?" Cassie asks over her Titans communicator. "I can be wherever you need me to be if that's the case."

Ben took the call from Amanda Waller's office in New York. "Oracle? Bronze Tiger here. Your friends in the current Administration are requesting that I oversee your efforts." he said, phrasing it just this side of a demand.

Tell Amanda to extinguish the fuse on her tampon, she thinks. "Your assistance will be appreciated," she says instead, and gives him the coordinates.

The call ends without any further ado, and an hour later Ben's on an Air Force bird headed for DeeCee.

The Southern Belle's voice is difficult to mistake for anyone else's. "Readin' ya loud and clear, skipper. I think a spot just opened up in my oh-so-crazy schedule."

All of the volunteers had been given the coordinates to an abandoned office building in Washington DC. There was one conference room that looked better kept than any of the other rooms, complete with a laptop connected to a projector.

Their host, however, is nowhere to be seen.

Arisia, after materializing, takes a seat in one of the empty chairs and leans back. Waiting.

The Blackhawk arrives the conventional way - through a door that's seen better days. She pauses at the entryway. "Well, this sure ain't the Ritz."

"Huh. This is like the audience Booster had the last time he tried karaoke.."

Arisia chuckles softly at the gathering.

After more clearing of his throat and fussing with the console wires, Special Agent Anderson seems to finally have it together. A push of a button amidst a series embedded in the table top dims the lights, bringing up an image somehow projected onto the wall opposite the agent.

The image reveals a mussed and arrogant looking man only slightly older than Agent Anderson.

"This is Doctor Edgar Otto. American born, graduated with a double PhD in Biotechnology and Genetics from MIT while still in his teens. Genius with all that comes with it, unfortunately including some eccentricities his employers couldn't handle. He bounced from one contract to the next, each one diminishing in reputation and morality until he finally went solo. After that, he dropped off the radar."

His eyes dart nervously to the gathered heroes before continuing.

"He has been notorious for successfully designing and selling custom exotic pets for the super wealthy to help fund whatever research suits his fancy. Recently, he hasn't been satisfied with simply flooding the ecology with his monstrosities."

The click of a button can be heard, and the projection blanks to a black screen. Silence, then rapid clicks as the button is pushed repeatedly.

Half of Eel's mouth stretches out to mutter into Zinda's ear.

"I'm guessing he's only 20. Doogie Howser style wunderkind who's just had the training wheels taken off..."

"Uh, you need some help with the projector, Agent Anderson?"

"No...I think I...no, really..."

He checks the wire connections for the millionth time, taps out a few commands on the keyboard, clicks the buttons again,

-DECIDED THAT HUMANITY IS NOT- "...shit.." Some quick adjustments of the volume later, an image of Dr. Otto appears on the screen.

-enough to keep up with the meta-roids that continue to perpetuate their lies of protection! Therefore, in my brilliance, I have designed a formula that will kick start the potential within us all! I will detonate this formula into the Earth's atmosphere, seeding the weather patterns so that all may feel its effects and become their own protection! You will not know the day nor time of my coming for I will be a thief in the night. Not to steal your humanity, NAY! But to FREE you from your slavery, give you back your dignity and pride! That is all.

The screen goes blank.
