A hot bath is exactly what Corrine needed. After soaking to prunish-feel with a good book, she's wiping condensation from the mirror to comb out her hair. It's been quiet recently. Quiet is good. It's given her a lot of time to focus on herself, which is nice, and get some research done on things that still don't make sense.
Mmm. Right now, she's actually thinking about just slipping into her pajamas and flopping down in front of a good movie. There's hot chocolate to be had and she has a bag of mini-marshmallows stashed away. Yeah... that sounds perfect.
There's another sound, an actual one. She closes the cabinet mirror, then turns to make sure she's actually seeing what she thinks. It's like a super-awesome shiny disco-ball.
Yeah. Definitely report this, pron--

Through the kitchen, only one in the dining room-- she doesn't look much like mom when she was younger, too bad-- through the hallway and into the parlor. She's on her way up the stairs when something at head-level on the landing stops her. It's her mother, staring back at her from the frame, standing in the exact place Jean was. Jean took the frame down, examining the picture for a few moments.
"Thank you," she says again, distantly. She looks over at her visitor, the frame still in her hand. "I'm Jean. Jeanine. Just not Jeannie."

"I'm sure you also know that it's a lot, and you're not really ready for it. But you're going to have to be."
It would be hard to say for sure if Thessaly had known Jeanine's mother or not. Thessaly knows many things and many people. You cannot live to her age if you don't. Who to avoid, with whom to be familiar...The girl bears a resemblance, but after millennia on Earth, so does everyone else.

Date: 2007-12-17 05:57 am (UTC)No reason she can't be a gracious hostess. Hosts serve drinks. Jean goes to the kitchen and the cabinet that seems like the right one. She's never made tea or coffee, either in creation or preparation. Actually, the idea of consuming physical substance is kind of nauseating, but she'll make the effort.
"I'm ready." No, that's a little too sure of herself. "I mean... I can learn. Mom learned from a lot of people and she showed me. Well, a lot of it. I guess." She shrugs. "I dunno, I could be a simpleton but I don't have any other choice but to try so readiness isn't really a factor."

"I am not the sort of person most want within their address books, and I care for few people on my own. That said, if you should require assistance, or learning, or anything, you will know how to find me."
For all her antagonism and hostility towards most of the supernatural community, she does know when to be on someone's good side.
"My name is Thessaly."
