Dinner Date?

Kara, Grant and Mar'i have returned to the condo after being debriefed following the war with the replicants, and Kara finally got that shower she was after since seemingly being shot forward in time. You can build a hell of a sweat on when you jump through time...

She leaves the bathroom, towelling her hair, to see the dinner table being laid out. "You guys are quick movers..." She grins at her two hosts, and notices there's a fourth place set at the table. Her look wavers a little... She's not sure how keen she is on meeting lots of other heroes at once, but one more tonight shouldn't hurt too badly. For a second she worries that Mar'i is trying to set her up with someone... She had mentioned something that effect. "Umm... Who's the dinner guest?" She smiles, nervously.

Kara wrinkles her nose at the food initially, but gives one of the Greek delicacies a try and decides that she likes it. She avoids the yoghurt, however. "Thanks Grant. I'm not a big eater, but these taste really good."

She gives Grant a thumbs up, hoping he wasn't eavesdropping on the earlier conversation.

"Does anyone want something besides wine?" Mar'i calls out from the kitchen. "We have catawba grape juice--that's my favorite."

You're a guest. Drinking all of the wine would be bad form. And potentially a bad example for your other self. Other self? Is that the right term? Maybe it'll be easier just to think of her as a separate entity altogether?

"Actually? If it's not too much trouble, mineral water would be nice. Or, you know, even ice water. Any kind of water, really."

"Mineral water ... with or without fizzy bubbles? Is Pellegrino okay?"

From the kitchen comes the sound of clanking bottles and the increased hum of the refrigerator.

"Perfect, actually, thank you."

So was the food, to be honest.

And it was a nice change from fly-through hamburgers and tacos.

"Oh no, I'm quite fine with the wine, thanks." She takes another sip, and forces an expression of enjoyment onto her face. *Have it while you can, Kara...* she thinks to herself. *You probably won't get many opportunities...*

"So, Mar'i!" She changes subject from her internal monologue. "Who do you intend to introduce me to next? I've got loads of people to catch up with."

"Well--" Mar'i walks out of the kitchen bearing a large, steaming Pyrex dish. "First I was going to introduce you to the moussaka. But you should probably save room for baklava, too." She sets the dish down on the table and beams at her guests. "But as to which persons you should meet next, who do you want to see? Or is there a place where you'd like to start?"

"Well, I'm not sure..." She twiddles with her hair as the others start putting food on their plates. "Can we see the Justice Society first? Maybe meet all of Power Girl's friends. I'm sure there will be some people there that I know..."

"Sure! They're really close, too--just up in Manhattan. I bet they'd love to meet you. Who was in the JSA back in your home?"

Kara smiles, and helps herself to a little food. "We had the Flash, the Green Lantern, Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Hourman..." She looks a little wistful, even though to her it was only a week or so ago that she last met up with them. "They must all look so old now."

"Ohhh....not by much," Kara replies with a grin. "You know how...crazy...life is around here. You're somehow always getting de-aged." She smiles. "Though they may look a little older. Not by much, though."

"Oh, hey, that's right," Grant replies. He finishes one of the dolma, then takes a sip of wine, glancing at the plate Mar'i has set down for them. Not too bad for an impromptu dinner date.

"Who's the chairperson of the JSA now, anyway? I've been meaning to go by the Brownstone at some point, and it should be easier now that we're in Philadelphia."

He pauses, then looks around the table, brows lifting. "Hey... wait, why don't we all go together? Karen, you're on the team, right? You could totally show us around - maybe introduce us to some of the Founders?"

Kara sets down her water glass and grabs a stuffed grape leaf. "More than that, Grant," she says warmly. "I was practically raised by the Founders." She nods. "I would love to. Just let me know when."

"Awesome. We should do that. Mar'i and I have a break coming up after finals are over. Maybe we can do that then," he says quickly, casting a quick, hopeful glance toward the raven-haired Tamaranean

"Sure, after the holidays start," Mar'i agrees. "Kara?"

"Hmm? Oh, I already said ye...Oh." Kara looked at Supergirl as realization hit her. "Right." She smiled sheepishly. "They, ah, meant you."

"Yeah, well..." Kara was ignoring a lot of the conversation, finally getting into the eating, and with a mouth full of food, she tries to get the words out. "Whenever really. I'm not at school, so I can go see anyone at any time." She gives a thumbs up, a smile that reveals a little too much of the contents of her mouth, and continues to eat.

"Great!" Grant replies with obvious enthusiasm.

"Like I said, I've been meaning to get up to Manhattan to talk to Flash and the others, but, well... things tend to get in the way in the heroing business."

Grant reaches forward and spoons some of the moussaka onto his plate, then settles back in his seat, taking a sip of wine and showing Mar'i a smile.

"Thanks for picking this all up, sweetheart," he says, gesturing with his fork.

"Oh, it was no trouble!" Mar'i assures him. "That Greek place does great suppers, and Christos was so nice about suggesting what we could have." She beams at their guests. "I don't cook very well myself," she confesses, "but I'm hoping to learn."

"Mmmwom-mwom-mwomm..." This is the first proper meal that Kara has had since jumping forward in time, and she has no complaints about the quality of the cooking.

"Cooking's a bi...a pain." Kara smiles. Watching Kara eat, she raises an eyebrow. "Well, hey. We have our ginormous appetites in common too. How about that."

Making a big swallow, and subsequent burb, Kara then remembers where she is. "Oh, sorry... I've not really eaten in a decade..." She's about to go for more, but stops herself. "And normally I don't eat this much. You can probably tell that by my skinny waist." She smiles with a sense of pride, and drinks some more wine. It seems to be going to her head.

"You might want some water with that," Mar'i cautions her. "Unless Kryptonians don't get dehydrated like humans do?"

"Hee hee... No! That's okay, I've only had two glasses..." She finishes the one she's drinking. "Three then." This is possibly the first time she's had alcohol. "Wow. It's a bit like being next to a small bit of red kryptonite, isn't it?" She starts floating out of her chair.

Mar'i floats to join her. "I think water from now on," she says, gesturing at Damage to clear away the wine bottle and glasses. "Or Soder Cola. Unless caffeine does angular things to your nerves."
