The small group of Green Lanterns who decided to pay Qward a visit are on their way back, and the assembled Guardians of the Universe are waiting on the Oan side of the portal for their return, managing to look as stern and disapproving as ever.

Uh oh.

Coming to as nonchalant a stop as he can, having just escaped Sinestro flavored death.

"Is there a problem officer?"

One of the nameless Guardians speaks, in response.

"Honor Lantern Gardner. We did not authorize retaliatory action against the Sinestro Corps. Explain yourselves."

"I musta missed the 'lie down an take it like a bitch' memo." comes back the cheeky retort.

"Nobody said it was forbidden.'Sides retaliation was just our cover. We did a grab 'n run job ta get intelligence on tha Evil Eggplant's plans."

"We didn't lose anyone, and we may have gained tactically valuable information. There wasn't going to be a better time to pull this off."

Hal crosses his arms - his relationship with the Guardians has been tense, at the best of times.

Arisia brings her collected Weaponer closer to herself, running another check on his vitals before looking to the Guardians. "It seemed a wise course of action to gather what information we could as we had seemingly been off-guard and unawares of the capabilities of our enemies when they attacked."

Arisia's relationship with the Guardians has only been rocky when she's been standing up for Hal. Usually, she doesn't rock the boat this much.

John hasn't rocked any boats much at all since Xanshi.

He's not far behind her, with his own prisoner - Haasp the Hunter.

"Let's stop complaining about protocol and work on getting any answers we can from these suckers."

One of the Guardians reaches out, tendrils of green energy moving to take custody of the prisoners.

"We will handle the interrogation of the prisoners."

Another of their number speaks.

"This tendency of the Green Lanterns of Earth to substitute their judgment for ours is troublesome. Lantern Natu, you would do well not to follow their example. Report, then, before we determine appropriate disciplinary action."

Soranik Natu, looking a little worse for wear, steps forward.

"For the record," she states, "I was not forced along on this mission. I acted of my own accord."

"We needed to strike while they were still in gloat mode," Kilowog booms. "They made mince meat of us here, so we let them know we mean business. The last thing we needed was for them to build up a reputation that could start sowing fear in some of the rookies here. We needed to spit in their eye and do it immediately, to cut 'em off at the knees. We did that. Now we can peel these chumps' brains like bananas and get us something we can use to make our next trip there the last one."

The Guardian's tone is icy.

"You needed to follow protocol. You should have cleared this plan with us. The Green Lantern Corps cannot be allowed to slip out of control as the Manhunters did."

One of the others speaks.

"We have been given your justifications for this mission, but as of yet, we have not heard your report."

Smurf hubris was reaching critical mass here.

"If ya need a whippin boy, I talked 'em inta the plan.

We went in fast an hard. A bunch of us raised hell while the sneakier types went in for intel recon and grabbed a few likely squealers. We got out in one piece an then got dressed down by these little blue bureaucrats..."

"We also saw Sinestro implant the Parallax entity into Amon Sur. Whatever he's planning - it's big, and he's moving fast."

One of the Guardians is examining the captive Haasp critically.

"This is not whom it appears to be."

With a surge of green energy, the ring-generated disguise is melted away, revealing the corpse of another Weaponer.

The Guardian nearest the living Weaponer, who has begun to cough, adds with a note of alarm.

"And this one appears infected. He must be quarantined and examined immediately."

Arisia has been quiet. Her report is transcribed by ring and will be submitted in a matter of minutes to the Book of Oa.

Kilowog doesn't like the sound of this. Did Sinestro EXPECT them to quick strike back and plant something ugly for them?

He glances to Gardner. Knew this was a bad idea.

"According to Harvid, his brother Haasp is pretty tricky. Probably switched places with a decoy when he realized John was going to kick his ass."

That doesn't make John any less pissed off that he got suckered.

"Let's find out what we can from the guy we got and start figurin out how we're gonna take those bastards apart."
