Selina Kyle usually shows up without an appointment.
It isn't something that can truly be expected but it should be unsurprising when she shows up unexpectedly, sitting in your chair or lounging on your desk, regardless of what else may have been there to start with. Sometimes, though, the waiting for someone to show up part of all of that is just too much, too trying, too annoying.
When visiting Eddie (and therefore Crane), she'd prefer not to .... surprise anyone.
So while there is still no appointment, there is, at least, knocking on the door instead of just walking right into their establishment.
She's even doing it during business hours.
