Decking the Halls and All That Jazz

The Justice League Watchtower has a highly sophisticated comm system that can send messages to individuals, to separate rooms, to separate floors or to the whole place. Right now, the entire system is activated. An emergency? Not quite. There is holiday music being played, from Vince Guaraldi to Nat King Cole to Ella Fitzgerald, classics all. And in the dining hall, a towering spruce tree has been erected. Atop a ladder, a young man sings along with the music as he carefully feels his way along the tree to hang lights. His usual attire of slacks and a neatly pressed shirt has been exchanged for jeans and a sweater with a red-nosed reindeer knitted into the fabric. Looks handmade, too.

Across a table near the front are at least eight pies of different sorts: fruit, chocolate, pumpkin, chess. Homemade, from the looks of it. A basket nearby seems to be brimming with cookies, too, and beside that basket are a few hot beverage dispensers labeled cocoa and mulled cider.

Someone is bringing the holiday spirit to the Watchtower.

Stargirl smiles. "It is! Merry Christmas, Mr. Blackwell!"

"Mr. Blackwell? Isn't he that guy that talks about who can't dress well?" laughs the man standing beside Jade, her hand on his arm, his hand over hers. "How are you, ma'am? Want something to eat or drink?"

"I'm great!" Stagirl's smile gets wider, "How are you? And yes, I'd love a glass of punch to wash down this delicious cookie."

A appears and hops over to the beverage table, spooning up a generous serving of punch in a glass for Courtney.

"Here ya go, kiddo, drink up. As long as it's non-alcoholic, of course." Jennie sends the over to get her a glass as well.

Arthur looks between those gathered and shakes his head to himself. He isn't much the social type. "I agree with the assessment of the cookies. They are delicious."

"I'll be sure to pass that on to my aunt," Kip says happily. "I think Kermit has the right idea, though: bakeoff between Aunt Justine and Ma Hunkle has all the makings of awesome, you know? Plus about an extra ten pounds on my fat backside."

"And mine. Oof. But damn, so much tastiness, I'd do the extra workouts to survive that dinner."

Jennie pats her stomach and grins widely.

Courtney takes a sip of her punch. "We could be work-out buddies," she gives Jennie a grin.

ambles up to Courtney and pushes a present into her hands.

Being a bit clueless about what she'd want, Guy opted to let Tora pick out a tasteful silver charm bracelet that already has reindeer and snowman charms attached.

Smiling, Courtney takes the present from the chimp, opening it eagerly.

"It's beautiful," she reaches down to pat the chimp on its head, "Tell Mr. Gardner I said thank you, okay?"

The angora sweater inside the package is a result of Tora's good taste, heading off Guy's original idea of gifting Jade with an alien set of 'bikini-mail'.

The ornate knife inside the packaging was carved from one of the spines of a VERY large predatory fish indigenous to Nyack II, an aquatic planet Guy recently visited during a tour of duty. The natives considered the knife to be good luck against intrigues, although that tidbit of trivia remained unknown to Gardner. he just figured it looked cool and 'Ocean'ish.

Arthur looks at the chimp and the gift arching a brow before he accepts the present. He doesn't unwrap it instantly, uncertain if he should wait for the day in question or not. Sometimes delayed fulfillment is better as well.
