Conrad Laughlin was a man on a mission.  More than anyone besides his specialists knew of.  The Justice League's Watchtower satellite required minute-by-minute updates and maintenance.  This is not something normally handled by its members, so tech support is always moving through.

The background check is well and truly exhausting.  One day's work requires a month of informational requests, as well as interviews with family, and what appeared to be a "spirit sniffing" from a rhyming gargoyle.  That was the strangest part of the entire day so far.  The fact Laughlin's packed lunch now bore the faint smell of brimstone was just an added bonus.

He wasn't able to bring any of his own tools as everything necessary would be provided by the League staff, and a schematic as to what he'd be facing was completely out of the question.  Conrad was working blind here, but when your client bases itself on universal security, its a moot point.

Turning to the worker next to him in a rather bright orange (with garish blonde work-boots), he spoke quickly.  "If the pay for this wasn't ridiculous, I'd almost do it for the sights.  Where are you out of?"

"In Brightest Day, in Blackest Night... No evil shall escape my sight."

The corridor is bathed in a green glow, and that ambient light is being absorbed, suddenly.

"Playtime's over, Doc."

Possibly the most hated villain on the Watchtower snarls at the Green Lantern, and raises a hand, projecting another beam of white hot light at him. "Playtime's just begun, you smug bastard."

In the time it takes Savitar to start to generate the force field, Hawkman has his mace back....and sees Light down the hall.

Eyeing Savitar, he rears back and lets loose with a swing. He doubts it will crack Savitar's field...but that's not the point.

He wants to see if he can bounce Savitar off of Dr. Light, down the hallway. That's why he swung the mace HARD...he's pretty sure it won't kill Savitar with the force field up...

Savitar's eyes widen from behind his golden mask. He's about to shout out for Hawkman to stop when the mace connects and he goes flying past the Green Lantern and into Dr. Light.

Savitar would have crashed into Dr. Light himself, but with the movement of his left hand, Light swings one of his white beams of heat towards the tumbling speedster, knocking him aside and into the wall. The power is enough to cut through the man's forcefield, and Light smirks as he sees the speedster's skin singe and burn.

He then swings the beams back towards the heroes, and begins to laugh as more rays of light begin to emit from all over his body.

Like that's going to stop Carter from making a charge.

Carter died at the hands of one of Light's stooges right before Light tried to kill millions of children through the virus he created. Carter had caught up on what had happened since his resurrection. For that ALONE, Light has it coming to him.

And then you factor Sue Dibny into the mix.

Carter flies, deftly dodging many of the beams, letting one or two hit him as he zeroes in on Dr. Light with a "RrrrrrrAAAAH!" as he takes his best swing. He leaves himself open for a lightburst, but if Light takes it, it's going to cost old finhead.

Hal follows Carter's lead, redirecting some of that absorbed light energy into generating protective armor for Hawkman - it wouldn't be right to have to bury him again this soon.

Light's look of utter confidence falters as Hawkman charges at him, the hero suddenly bathed in a thick green glow that can only mean one thing. That damned Green Lantern.

He focuses all of his heat beam on Hawkman, cringing as the blow comes towards him. He screams as the blow smashes against his side, cracking ribs and slamming him against the wall.
