Conrad Laughlin was a man on a mission.  More than anyone besides his specialists knew of.  The Justice League's Watchtower satellite required minute-by-minute updates and maintenance.  This is not something normally handled by its members, so tech support is always moving through.

The background check is well and truly exhausting.  One day's work requires a month of informational requests, as well as interviews with family, and what appeared to be a "spirit sniffing" from a rhyming gargoyle.  That was the strangest part of the entire day so far.  The fact Laughlin's packed lunch now bore the faint smell of brimstone was just an added bonus.

He wasn't able to bring any of his own tools as everything necessary would be provided by the League staff, and a schematic as to what he'd be facing was completely out of the question.  Conrad was working blind here, but when your client bases itself on universal security, its a moot point.

Turning to the worker next to him in a rather bright orange (with garish blonde work-boots), he spoke quickly.  "If the pay for this wasn't ridiculous, I'd almost do it for the sights.  Where are you out of?"

Adam looked at Ted, still not sure exactly where he was. "Hey Beetle I think we got him, but really I don't want to wait around here to long to find out. I assume that you are by yourself here for a reason, why don't you take the lead, and fill me in on the way."

"Haven't been on the Watchtower in a while, then, I'd guess? Well, Rann's a long way off the bus-line. This is the Monitor Womb, AKA the master security and control area for the Watchtower. From here, I can monitor anything, control security systems, or do whatever we need to do."

He glances to some of the screens.

"It looks like Kip's done a pretty good job holding down the fort, though we're going to need to clean up some of the mess. Somebody set off a bomb in one of the trophy areas.. some of the cameras, are offline, too."

Adam chuckles, "it has been a long time, and with the kind of hospitality these villains are showing, it may be a while until I come back." Adam does a sort of serious laugh at his own joke.

Then Adam got serious and said, "alright how about you direct me to some of the blind spots in your camera system and I will be your eyes in those places. Or would you like me here watching your back while you play with your computers?"

The instant that Beetle is plugged into the system, Kip knows about it. He leans forward, smiling broadly as the notification comes silently to his Braille monitor, and opens the comm channel. "Sir, if you're about to do what I think you're about to do, can you shut down the controls here just in case? I don't know if this guy I just kicked in the face will stay down too long and I feel pretty vulnerable here."

"Absolutely, Kip - in fact.. Adam, Kip's at one of the subsidiary consoles, here."

He indicates the room on a display.

"If you could retrieve our resident computer wizard, I'd be grateful. Kip, I'm sending Adam Strange your way for a pickup, so pack your things."

"Roger that, sir, and thanks," Kip answers, relief in his tone. "I think scans say the cat that's here with me is Copperhead but there was a shifter up here too, Clayface maybe. Hopefully he's still out, but I dragged his sorry butt out of my control room here, so he might be wandering around. Be careful, please."

"No one knows this place better than you Kip," Adam replied. "So you are the boss, I will be there as soon as I can."

Adam turned to Ted to address both him and Kip, "if those problems get in my way I will show them why I got the moniker Champion, but having you two and your eyes in the skies will be able to help me if I get in a bit over my head. Like that would ever happen." Adam said sarcastically.

Adam wanted to just Zeta Beam Kip to them but with the beam already having malfunctioned once he didn't want to risk using it again until he knew what the problem was. So Adam headed out the door past Girder, and started flying towards the area Ted had directed him to.
