New Blood In Bludhaven

A new hero has emerged in Bludhaven, one shrouded in mystery as he has been mistaken for someone else. Owlman has met with Nightwing and got his identity straightened out - for now. A new order has been bred into the underworld in Bludhaven. Something that has been having rippling effects in the city...

Owlman is on patrol and connects into the police frequencies to see what's happening. On one end of the city, a jewelry heist, another end a huge gang fight, another a drug bust. "This is heavier than normal activity for any city..." Owlman thinks to himself.

He decides to tackle the gang fight in Zee Mores. He heads off and taps his comm, Owlman calling Nightwing or Blue Beetle or Batman or ANY Bat-family - There's something unusual going on in Bludhaven tonight, I could use some help tonight! Is anyone reading this?"

"Hey, how do you know it's not the Beetle family?" comes the reply from a familiar voice.

"Just because he gets the signal and the fancy car."

"Hey Beetle! You know it's the car... chicks dig the car! Where do you feel like going tonight? Maybe with me? I'm headed into a serious gang fight - I could use the help..."

"I dunno. Those gang fights never turn out like the one in West Side Story. Some of them get pretty violent. On the other hand, we're in the summer re-run season on the television."

He thinks a moment.

"Yeah, I'll be out in a bit. We can stand to do a few more field tests of your gear. Which, by the way, I didn't think you were going to take out and get me in trouble with Nightwing, yet. Couldn't wait?"

"You know me - just dive in! Meet me at Zee Mores in an hour?"

"Sounds like a plan. I'll signal you on this channel when I'm close."

Owlman arrives in Zee Mores and heads right to the area where the gang fight is apparently taking place. He sits on a ledge high above the scene and takes it in. Something about this looks odd to him, part almost looks like a highly organized group while the other look like a typical street gang. "Owlman to Blue Beetle - I'm at the scene, but something's not right - even for a gang fight..."

The reply over the comm is instantaneous.

"I'm bringing the Bug in, in stealth mode, about two minutes out. What's going on?"

"The one group is just an ordinary gang, but the second is very efficient, well organized, and they seem to be getting orders from someone..."

He's very concerned about this, who would be giving an order to a street gang?

In a moment, a blue figure descends to join Owlman - Beetle's robot surrogate, remotely piloted by Beetle from a secure location. He hasn't really explained to Owlman why he's been using the device, yet, but the technology used to control it is thought-driven, so it reacts exactly as he would.

To bad guys, it would just look like someone in a suit of blue armor.

Owlman sees Blue Beetle surrogate and says, "Isn't it a little much to bring out the heavy armour for for a street gang fight? It's not an interstellar threat."

"I bring out the armor for anything physical these days. If I expect more than talking, then I let this baby do the walking. I still keep myself in shape just in case, though."

He peers down at the scuffle.

"So what've you seen so far?"

"So far, this one gang that is highly organized has started to pull out some sophisticated weapons, more large scale weapons than any street gang should have, ready to go break this up?" He gets his shruikens and Owlrangs ready and pauses at the edge to strike...

"Huh. Could be Intergang.. they've been quiet a while. Let's go."

He activates the retractable wings on the back of the robot, and launches into the air with its boot-jets, for a short hop towards the middle of the fight.

Owlman open his cape and presses the glide feature and it stiffens into a gliding form, maneuvering like wings almost for him to head right down into the middle of the fray. Above them, the gang members suddenly see two dark forms descedning. "It's Ble Beetle and tha Owlman guy we've heard about!" says one member.

Owlman deactivates the glide and his cape furls around him and he lands hard on one gang member...THUD! "You guys picked the wrong night..." he says in a dark tone. He throws out shruikens as he lands and Owlrangs. They disperse from him like shrapnel, but guided toward this crowd of unsuspecting gang members.

He watches Blue Beetle from the corner of his eye to see what he does...

A random thug stops and says, "Boss? What are you doin' here?! What are you doin' attackin' us?!" Owlman's Owlrang hits him and knocks him out before he is able to say anymore. His comments take Owlman by surprise...

Boss? Now that's a bit odd..

Beetle's robotic avatar unloads on members of both gangs, using compressed air bursts from the weapon arm to knock them around at a distance.

"You may want to give up, gentlemen. It'll spare you some bruises."

Owlman fights hard and knocks out more thugs. The rest seeing both Owlman and Blue Beetle decide tonight isn't worth it and they start to scatter.

Owlman thinks, 'Why did that one guy call me boss?'

He is puzzled by it, and concerned.
