The office is crowded with NYPD personnel, frantic patients, a hysterical receptionist, and building security.

The doctor wears a surprised expression on his face. His neck has been broken. Postmortem lividity suggests that he was struck once and left to lie where he fell.

Terrific beckons the police.

"All right. I'll check in with the coroner, but I think we don't need to see anymore."

"Yeah, I feel like I've seen enough myself." The lead detective gestures for the ME personnel to take charge of the body. "Anything we need to be watchin' out for here?"

"Yes," says Terrific, all business. "We think we have all we need, but any signs of occultism need to be brought to our immediate attention. Dispatch has my direct line. What we're looking at here, at the barest minimum, is multiple homicides and possible attempted brainwashing of at least one of his patients. And if he tried one, there were likely others. All of this is tied to an Omega-Class threat being investigated by the JSA and members of the JLA. Our research indicates the killer in this incident is probably outside U.S. jurisdiction right now, but in all likelihood is not an immediate threat. We've ascertained Nightstar's safety, and don't need to devote resources to finding her."

Terrific stops to consider. He's working hard to put this in terms a beat cop can relate to.

"It would appear our doctor here is tied to a 'Cult of Crouteux' that's been responsible for several incidents lately. Anything linking him to that cult is of immediate interest to us."

The detective takes notes. "Cult. Okay. I'll let the Major Case Squad know--they handle that kinda thing." He closes his notebook with an air of resignation. "Perp flown the coop ... well, not like we don't have enough homicides to work in this town. Thanks for the hand."

"No, officer. Thank you. I know it's never easy for you men when we blow in without notice."

He extends his hand to the officer.

"Rest assured, all of this will be resolved."
