[Lex Luthor]
I cannot see where I have a choice in the matter. I have failed in my duty to the people of these United States, and as such, effective immediately, I resign the office of the Presidency. Rest assured I will continue to cooperate fully in the investigation into this horrible affair, and that I intend to plead guilty to any and all charges leveled against me should they be fairly assigned.

I would like to thank -

- a brief pause, with genuine sadness in his eyes -

I would like to thank the people of the United States for allowing me to serve. It has been a privilege and an honor. Thank you very much.

LARRY KING, CNN ANCHOR: Washington is in turmoil this week as President Luthor has resigned the office in the wake of one of the biggest appropriation scandals in this nation's history.  Joining us tonight are the two reporters for the Metropolis Daily Planet that broke this story, Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

We will also talk about their careers and how it's changed, not only from their marriage, but for Lois' recent surrogate pregnancy for none other than the Man of Steel himself, Superman.

Plus, Big Belly Burger is having it's first ever metahuman promotional tie-in, as their Little Belly Meals will feature several members of the west coast hero group the Titans.  We will be speaking to Big Belly CEO Harvey Lundquist later in the hour.  It's next on LARRY KING LIVE.

Good evening. We begin tonight with Clark Kent and Lois Lane.  On the morning of October 27th, the Daily Planet...and ONLY the Daily Planet...broke the story of a major misappropriations scandal that led to the suicide of the man who was directing the internal investigation and the resignation of one of the most popular presidents in recent history, Lex Luthor.  Clark, Lois, thank you for coming on, I imagine the last several days have been a whirlwind for the both of you.

"Larry, thanks for having us."

"Whirlwind's a way to put it," Lois chuckles at Clark's side. She smiles pleasantly, and the fatigue that's a natural part of the newborn mother routine helps hide any guardedness. Not that the reporter's defensive, no: she's far more likely to go on the offensive.

"Uhm, Larry." Clark pushes up his glasses and chuckles. "That's Lois and Clark. Don't get me into any more trouble with her than I already am."

Lois smiles brightly at Clark before responding to the question. "A good reporter never divulges her sources. Since I began working as White House Correspondant from the Planet I've developed contacts. Someone knew the garbage was rotting and pointed me to the right trash can. I was the one who had to paw through the trash can to find what stunk."

She pauses.

"Well, Clark and I did."

Clark chuckles. It comes across very easily to Larry that this give-and-take is a regular part of their relationship. "She set up the cans, helped dig, and then sent me to dig through more cans. What we uncovered was staggering in it's scope."

"What Clark said. A lot of investigation, looking through leads and public information. That's the surprising part. Most of what we found out was there for everyone to see. Hiding in plain sight, all of that. Bialya being thrown in the mix just helped light the way, that's all."

"Exactly, Lois, in going over the documents provided by our sources, we were able to find each step of the money flow and where it all led. Even now, some threads are still dangling with no real destination, but the White House, understandably, went into lockdown once the story broke."

"We can't speculate about any legal ramifications, Larry. Our attorneys tell us not to do that sort of thing. I think they think I'm someone who just says what's on her mind." WHERE would they get that idea. "But these problems come from his administration. I think that makes him responsible in some way."

Lois shrugs. "I didn't think about it like that. Our business is to bring the truth to the American public, Larry, and that's what we did. He was the one that decided what to do once the truth came out."
