Others are straining against the exhaustion of the time since the virus broke. The Batman finds a certain solace and thrill in hours-long stretches of work, and while somewhere, sometime, his body will demand compensation for the strains placed on it, he is running now on adrenaline. His city is in danger, his cohorts are in danger, and despite his ample warnings, Light has managed to unleash a nightmarish plot of revenge across scores of innocents. He has no time for sleep, for any respite.

His city is in danger.

Across the Batcave, every available resource is churning, spitting out reams of data that requires his total commitment to sorting out details and finding the common threads and answers that will save lives. Somewhere he knows that medical minds like Querl Dox and Pieter Cross are working on a cure; Batman's goal is to find a more direct solution, because knowing Light, he has a fail safe that will cut the juice to this this disaster, and the Dark Knight doesn't have time for niceties. Throwing the plot's main breaker works.

His city is in danger.

Pausing only long enough to fetch another cup of coffee, the cowled hero glances at one dedicated system - the one with medical readouts from the Watchtower - and scowls darkly. Two seconds later, the metal side of a bookshelf has a new fist-sized dent in its frame. Four seconds later, he is back to work. He can't trust anyone else to find the supervillain in time.

His city is in danger. The world is in danger.

The Bat is going to make sure he puts out this Light for good.
