Somewhere deep in Louisiana, hell has come to earth.

It was a simple matter to cast the pseudo-EMP pulse to kill the power - simpler still to render the majority of the guards inert.

She then communicated telepathically to the inmates.  Cause chaos.  Kill any hero you see.  Get to New Orleans.  There will be transportation there.  And money. Significant money.

It was so easy to motivate such as these.

One more spell to allow many of them to get their gear - and then all the Three needed to do was wait.

Actually, no it doesn't. The clay flattens before Hank impacts on the ground.

The earth then shoots up and swallows the middle of the three sisters whole where they float, then pulls her down to about 20 feet underground. "Power of two not quite what you need?"

Okay, after the telepath hitting something sounds like a good idea. Hank's way better suited to it, and after a second of getting her head straight, Corrine turns her attention on Magique again.

Shielding over the trio, white magic inside... Corrine's getting fond of the lightning in a bubble trick.

But Hammond hasn't forgotten the mage. Who she sees a Magique is actually Sand. Yes, he was told all about such things.

And Brainwave hasn't forgotten about Hammond either. Rather than attacking directly, he's now shoring up Merlynne's mind, keeping her focused and in the mix. The illusion lasts about five seconds, but long enough for Merlynne to cast...

...and then there's Sand.

Two big mistakes made by Magique. Both related to his recent changes.

First, he isn't silicoid anymore. Therefore, the particular spell they used wasn't having effect, because it was tied to his silicoid nature, *NOT* the carbon nature they had before.

The second was the new way that his powers were working. He was given a 10 second "flash forward" of the upcoming events - including Merlynne casting the ball lightning trick around Sand.

Sand waits, then as Merlynne begins to gesture, Sand shoots himself straight upward on a column of earth until he's right in front of the Magique on his right, then power shifts into his heightened strength and backhands her HARD across the face.

Hammond, however, isn't done playing...

Sand has a monster locked in his mind. He's take C4 to the guard doors.

There's something about Hammond that isn't magical, but it isn't natural, either. He's a rotted out thing along Corrine's senses. It's sickening. Complete and utter concentration helps her 'find' him and trace his influence.

Her hand reaches out and the light touches Sand. She pushes her influence to the forefront of his mind, hoping to overpower Hammond. Back along that connection, holy energy crackles back into the rot and sludge of Hammond's soul.

It's not a battle he knows how to fight. As he tries he realizes for a split second someone is behind him.

Corrine feels the drain on Hammond and feels the poison in his soul being leeched of into someone else...Someone she knows.

He needs to get out of there.
