"The whole premise of Halloween is based on scaring people a little - not to mention the whole horror movie industry. People like to be scared sometimes, I guess - gets the adrenalin going."
The moment he'd spied that particular dessert, he knew Mar'i would want a slice. Thus, the dutiful boyfriend appears by her side, carrying two plates and two forks, handing one of them to Nightstar. "Managed to save one of these for you," he says, grinning widely.
Emerson turns his face to better accept the kiss, then follows Mar'i to the table, sittind down beside her. Picking up his fork, he begins to work on the main course.
"Y'know, I have to agree with Starfire about the alien invasion thing," Grant says, reaching for his glass of Zesti. The bruises have faded and the shoulder is feeling a good deal better, but the memories of the ordeal a few weeks ago are still fresh in his mind.
Really, he'd just rather not think about any of it, not today. He's here with good company, eating good food, up on the Moon - the Moon!
Looking over at Mar'i, Grant shifts his legs under the table, bumping her foot with his own, that same stupid smile on his face. "First superhero Thanksgiving for me in four years," he says, popping a bit of turkey into his mouth.
"I don't think you could call this normal," she says thoughtfully, scraping the chocolate-strawberry crumbs with the edge of her fork and looking at the moonscape. "If they have an EVA suit in your size, would you like to go for a walk later?"
"Well, no, probably not, but that's ok, you know? Last year, normal for me meant watching football and eating a sliced turkey sandwich," Grant explains, nudging her foot again.
"So, no, this isn't normal, but it's better," he says, turning his eyes toward Mar'i again, leaning over and kissing her softly on the cheek. "A lot better."
At her question, Grant tilts his head to the side. "A walk? Uh, yeah, sure. That sounds good."
There's that beaming smile again. "Great! I don't need a suit out there so all we'd have to do is find one for you. I don't think we could go near Tranquility, but maybe I could fly us over it if you want to see the flag."
Taking a forkful of mashed potatoes, Grant nods at her explanation. The Sea of Tranquility, the landing site of the first lunar landing mission. Amazing to think the flag is still there.
"I'm not sure," Grant says, looking from her plate to the table. "Flash may have grabbed all of it. I'll go take a look though, ok?"
He leans over and kisses her cheek again. It's not like he'll be gone for a while, but he can't ever pass up an opportunity, almost as if he's trying to convince himself this is really real.

"I was in Baltimore. Just a normal day, had the day off from work, was all," Grant says thoughtfully.
