No invasion, but there's pie

The heroes continue to arrive and partake in the Thanksgiving feast, with varying degrees of relief that the "alien invasion" was merely a ruse.

"I think with everything that happened they were worried that no one would show up BECAUSE they would want to be with their family." Superman says before eating a forkful of pie. "They thought more folks would at least make an appearance this way." He looks around. "After everything everyone's been through, it's nice to see folks from all the groups interacting, doing something fun for a change."

"It is, though before long I think I will return to San Francisco. How is your son? I hope he continues to grow in strength."

"He's fine, being spoiled rotten by my adoptive parents. I told both of them and Lois that I wouldn't be long - but I said a while ago that I want to try to come to more of these things - be more accessable." He pauses. "We got very lucky. It's ironic that he was the point target of Light's attack, but Light assumed he'd be in Metropolis or another major city. He overthought himself."

"I rejoice that he was unharmed." Starfire laces her fingers together and rests her hands on the table. "My son is not human enough to be affected by such things, but still, there is always that fear."

Superman stares out into space. "I think I'm ready for a nice, normal Earth holiday season." He changes the subject. "Is Alcatraz back under control?"

"X'hal, yes," she sighs with relief. "We were fortunate, and we had the assistance of an unusual ally ... who deserves a reward for his assistance." She gives Superman a measuring look. "I owe him a personal debt of honor, as well as owing him for his help with the Titans. Would you care to meet him, and consider lending your influence to a pardon?"

Superman arches his eyebrow. "A pardon? As in, he's currently incarcerated?"

"Yes--I had Oracle arrange for his release into our custody, but it was a temporary measure." She leans forward. "He has been ill-used by Luthor, if that would further persuade you to speak with him, and his crimes were not entirely of his own making."

He swallows down another bite. This is VERY good pie. "If you think it'll help, I'm willing to speak with him."

Kory's smile is radiant. "It would. I will have Oracle send you the details of his file and the location of his prison. Thank you, Superman."

"I'd actually prefer if you'd accompany. I'm...not exactly relaxing to many people when they first meet me, for some odd reason."

Kory blinks in surprise. "If you wish, though most humans have trouble speaking with me, as well. Too often they are distracted by my breasts."

"At least your tongue-tiedness is gender specific. Well...mostly." Superman realizes what he just said and chuckles a little. "More specifically, he knows and trusts you. I think I'll see more of his true nature that way."

"Then of course. I have promised to help him, and this is simple enough. How soon would you want to visit?"
