Unaware of Kid Flash's predicament or Robin's incarceration, Speedy, Greta, Superboy, and Wonder Girl continue to follow Brentwood through Bristol House. The Titans are shown a formal dining room, the butler's pantry, the kitchen, and have now arrived in the library. Like many of the other rooms, the library is decorated in the ornate Victorian style adopted by the wealthy Americans of the period. The floor is oak parquetry, darkened with age. Oriental rugs provide color and warmth. Heavy faded-cherry curtains obscure the windows. Tall bookcases stand along the walls, filled with thick books bound in leather and cloth. Along one wall is a museum-quality display case holding a number of pulp magazines dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The covers make it clear that these issues celebrate the exploits of "Lightning Fist" Bristol.

I didn't know there were heroes back that early. I thought the Crimson Avenger was the first one.

Sure, yeah.

*under his breath*

The Crimson wasn't modern, dude.

Hey Kon, look at this vest. It says it was a gift to Lightning Fist from the Paiute-Shoshone Indians. This is some amazing beadwork.

*a crackle is heard from a speaker in a corner of the ceiling*

I see the little strumpet knows something of history.

Kon? Is this that boring already?

*turns around*

Kon! Kon! *shakes his shoulder then notices the green powder on her fingers* Ew, what is this crap? Kon, wake up!

*hears the voice and looks toward the speaker*

Nevermind history! What's going on here now? What did you do to Superboy?

The alien brat got a snootful of kryptonite dust.

I'm very disappointed in you, young lady. You used to be a nice, normal girl, and then you asked to be made an abomination.

Watch your language, you disgusting little whore. You were much nicer when you realized your abilities depended on the tools you used, but that wasn't enough for you, was it? You had to ask for more. Greedy little slut.

Oh right, you're one to talk about language, you old hag!

Yeah, my abilities depended on tools. What happens when you don't have those tools? Or if they fail? People could get hurt or they could die! At least now, I don't have to say, 'Wait, I can't help you. I don't have my sandals!" These are my abilities, and what business of yours to tell me how I should use them?

I'm making it my business to shut your mouth forever.

*around the room, small hatches pop open*

*long gun barrels slide out*

*bullets begin to fly*

*mutters something that she's heard Artemis say that would probably REALLY offend Isabel*

*she starts deflecting bullets, gasping as one barely misses her right ear*

Dammit!

*drops to the floor, and starts unwinding her lasso from her hip*

Yeah, lady, this is really a way to honor your ancestor. By shooting up all of his stuff. You're really psycho, you know that?

*eyes the gun barrels and waits for an opening*

Sacrifices must sometimes be made.

*snarls* Not today, there won't be!

*with a silent prayer Cassie catches one of the gun barrels with her lasso*

Sacrifice this, witch!

*BOOM*

*lightning zips along the lasso to the gun barrels poking out of the wall, blowing a large hole in the wall*

*the speaker crackles*

*static*

--brat!--

*static*

*the wall crumbles, revealing a room filled with stuffed grizzly bears rearing in frozen fury, wildcats perpetually snarling, and other trophy animals*

*smirks at the speaker*

Aww, is "brat" the best you can do?

*coughs at the dust and peers into the other room*

Geez, destroy all the irreplaceable Indian artifacts and leave the creepy dead animals. This lady IS a freak.

*watches Kon and Cassie leave a bit nervously and wanders over to a bookcase*

I wonder what kind of books a hero of the Old West liked... Hmm, were books still really expensive back then, or was that just hundreds of years ago? These look expensive, anyway.

What do you think, Speedy?

*still peering at the bookshelves*

There's a lot of history books... wonder what the history lessons were back then?

*rubs her nose*

Is that the books that smell that bad? Somebody must not have stored them well.

*coughs*

*a crackle is heard from a speaker in the ceiling*

You may wish to sit down now, dear. I don't want you waking up with a crick in your neck.

Waking up?

*backs away from the bookcase, coughing*

What are you doing? What's going on here?

*puts her hands over her mouth and nose in an attempt to keep the gas out*

*her foot catches on the edge of one of the Oriental rugs and she falls backwards*

Oof!
