Sticks And Stones

He's never wrong.

He never allows himself to be wrong.

But it's staring him right in the face.

A lapse in judgment.

An error.

The few strips of gauze he's pulled from the drawer just aren't going to be enough to fix this mess.

The blood soaked wad currently in his hand is hurled in the direction of the sink.

He looks all together too pleased with himself. Of all the women on the dance floor, he has the most beautiful one in his arms. Is that a smirk? Could it be that Bruce Wayne is genuinely happy?

She's far closer to him than she needs to be but not quite as close as she'd like. As they move across the floor, she's smiling too but the expression is more in her eyes then on her face. Her fingers toy with the shorter hairs at the nape of his neck.

Not as close as he'd like. Easily remedied. A gentle pressure encourages her to a distance far more intimate. Her teasing fingers create a heated reaction.

"Do that much longer and we'll have to leave," he whispers.

The smile causes her eyes to crinkle up at the corners. Leaning in, she kisses his cheek softly. "Me? What am I doing?"

Her feigned ignorance in conjunction with the kiss makes the smile on his face widen. "You know exactly what you're doing. Temptress."

Yes, he's in an excellent mood.

"If I knew..." Selina pulls back to look at him, still keeping their hips and legs almost in appropriately close. "... I wouldn't have asked."

There's such a thing as 'inappropriately close'? They'll just have to test that, now won't they?

"There are men in this room who would give just about anything to be in my shoes right now."

A small smirk, "And that's different from every other night we go out in what way?" Oh, there is and they're getting very close to it.

They're one step shy of creating a scene. He does have a reputation as a playboy to maintain, doesn't he? "Most nights we don't give them quite this much of a show."

"Mmmmmmm. I see." Selina's hands slide down to the small of his back, entirely appropriate and not at all scandalous.

"Still out to proove you're a rake and a scoundrel even just days after the wedding?"

His hand moves in turn. Past the small of his wife's back. To a spot nearly inappropriate in public.

"Now why would I want to prove something like that?"

"I would have no idea."

She tilts her head to the side, still smiling, "You'd have to tell me." A small pause, "Unless, Mr. Wayne, you're attempting to seduce me."

"Mrs. Wayne, the thought never even occurred to me."

Nope. Never.

There is a laugh at calling her Mrs. Wayne. The whole last name this is still something she's not entirely settled on. It isn't important right now. Right now, the only thing important is this man in front of her.

"Wouldn't that be a twist?"

"Actually I think what we're doing is closer to the tango."

Despite the deliberate misinterpretation and good humor, the look on his face begs her to continue.

"Not quite."

Selina pivots in order to make it more of a tango, though putting a bit more space between them. Still, it shows a great deal of leg as she takes her steps. "How are you thinking to continue from here?"

And what a fine leg it is. A very fine leg. A leg that goes all-

"I'm sorry. What did you say?"

"And here I thought you were seducing me, Mr. Wayne. Maybe I should stop and let you?" Selina pauses slightly, giving him a cue to dip her if he wants to do so. Or she could continue in her steps.

Miss a chance to dip her? Not a chance. The decent is smooth and controlled. As is the return.

"Don't stop on my account. Please."

"On your account? I think I'll stop on my account." She leans in as she steps again. "How often am I the one seduced?"

Is it her imagination or does his smile falter momentarily? In a flash, it's returned to full brilliance.

"What do you say we take this show on the road?"

Reaching up with fingers, she touches that smile lightly, "That wasn't a criticism."

A small chuckle, "What do you have in mind?"

He fakes an air of deep contemplation. "Well... I do own the building. And if I'm not mistaken, I think the Penthouse is reserved under my name for the next three days."

"Oh? Is that so?"

Selina stops dancing in order to kiss him softly, briefly, "Lead on."

Was that the flash of a camera? He honestly couldn't care less. In a crowded room full of people, there is only himself, Selina, and a promise of good things to come.
