JLA Meeting

The call has gone out to all members of the League, active and reserve, and those on the Watchtower are already filing into the meeting room. There will be those who cannot attend but there should be as many people here as possible.

Things have been stagnant since the Tribunal last year, the League is ever more reactionary and less proactive. Dr. Light and Slade are running their own organizations and how has it come so far that the other side is organized and the League is drifting?

It doesn't matter, today they will brief the League on what has happened and they will move on. It's time to finish the healing begun a year ago.

Vixen trudges into the room and leans against the wall. She's still a little battered and bruised, but she's using all the animal abilities she can muster to heal herself and give her strength. She leans against the wall, a bit uncomfortable actually taking a seat, and waits, willing herself not to reach for a doughnut.

She approaches Vixen where she is leaning against the wall.

"How are you feeling?"

Vixen smiles at Diana. It's a beautiful smile - one that's gotten her many campaigns - but nothing even close to the ones that grace Diana's face. "The hero in me wants to say that I'm feeling great, but the model in me wants to bitch about the burns and bruises," Mari says, only half-joking. She had to cancel a shoot because of it, but photo shoots aren't as important to her now as they used to be a few years ago. "But I'm good. Recovering. I heard you guys kicked lots of booty, though."

"I am not sure how much was kicked and how much was received, and we did not get Dr. Light." Her frustration shows at that and the smile is no longer gracing her face.

"I was hoping that would could get you to tell your version of what happened before we arrived, Sue only received a small amount of your transmission."

Vixen's quiet for a moment. "Not a lot happened. I was there trying to find out how the Totem," Mari fingers the fox-shaped pendant around her neck. "is affecting my physiology, if at all, and to see if it's powers are more magic-based or science based. Next thing I know, all the power goes out. It seemed as though Dr. Light already knew I was there, because he tracked me down before I could exit the lab room that I was in." Vixen takes a shaky sigh and rubs a bandage across her left arm gently. "We got into it verbally, and I tried to jump him, but he used hard light against me. It was...weird. I'd never seen him like that before. He was practically out for blood."

"He did have a telepath with him, perhaps that is how he knew you were there." But she looks thoughtful, maybe he did know she was there and was counting on getting caught.

"He has changed."

"Yeah. no kidding." Vixen's quiet. "He wanted payback. That's what he told me. That payback was a bitch. Much like I was." Mari shrugs and raises an eyebrow. "Funny. Five years ago, I might have felt victimized by that. Now, I just want to come up against him in a fair fight." Vixen shrugs. "Any idea what it was he wanted?"

When Diana's done, there's a hand on Vixen's shoulder. No words. There doesn't need to be.

Vixen looks to her right to see Sue standing next to her, her gentle hand on her shoulders. Vixen gives Sue a small, grateful smile, and scrunches up her nose in this appreciative way she has. Sue was a lot of things, but most of all, she was one of the emotional and mental pillars of the JLA, someone who you could always lean on for support, no matter how non-verbal. She places her own hand on top of Sue's as a sign of appreciation.

She also knows very well what Light can do to another woman. Seeing Mari like this, it crossed her mind.

There's a supportive smile, a gentle squeeze on that shoulder, and a cup of coffee that materializes prepared the way Mari takes it before Sue has a seat for the meeting.
