JLA Meeting

The call has gone out to all members of the League, active and reserve, and those on the Watchtower are already filing into the meeting room. There will be those who cannot attend but there should be as many people here as possible.

Things have been stagnant since the Tribunal last year, the League is ever more reactionary and less proactive. Dr. Light and Slade are running their own organizations and how has it come so far that the other side is organized and the League is drifting?

It doesn't matter, today they will brief the League on what has happened and they will move on. It's time to finish the healing begun a year ago.

After a quick check-in with his wife, Kal-El sits waiting for the meeting to start. It's both odd yet relieving that the chair is no longer his - but with everything going on right now, it's probably best the chair is in good hands.

"Is everything all right at the Brownstone?"

As is his way, Hawkman stands, arms crossed, over the meeting table, rather than taking a seat.

He's not certain he deserves a seat, as yet. Also, it allows him to loom.

He's good at looming.

The Flash, however, has taken a seat. One, because he's still a little ginger from the injuries, despite the speed-heal. Two, he's the goddamned Flash.

Not that he cares. He's stretching an arm down to the commissary to try and snag some donuts.

The Atom has resumed monitor duty, and is analyzing every piece of data available on the Enchantress.

He's glowering and noncommunicative, lost in his work.

Plaz catches the signal and flips the switch. Stretching across the room to do it.

Vixen trudges into the room and leans against the wall. She's still a little battered and bruised, but she's using all the animal abilities she can muster to heal herself and give her strength. She leans against the wall, a bit uncomfortable actually taking a seat, and waits, willing herself not to reach for a doughnut.

She approaches Vixen where she is leaning against the wall.

"How are you feeling?"

When Diana's done, there's a hand on Vixen's shoulder. No words. There doesn't need to be.

Hal sits, waiting. He wants to hear about this. He's just sorry Light's timing had been so bad... twenty minutes earlier or later, and he would have been there, too. But the Green Lantern was handling a natural disaster, getting people out of harm's way.

J'onn stands in the corner, arms crossed, silently watching.

Zauriel swoops soundlessly through the halls, landing at the entrance to the meeting room and heading in with a bounce to his stride. He is unarmored and he still looking rather battered from recent events. Despite this, he is practically glowing. It's not unusual to feel a sense of joy and goodwill when around Zauriel, but now the emotions all but radiate from the beatifically smiling angel.

The is the first chance many of the other Leaguers have to see the new Blue Beetle - to all outward appearances, it might as well be a black and blue battlesuit, with Ted really inside. It even fidgets nervously as Ted's mannerisms bleed through the neural link.

Hal smiles and nods at Ted's "stand-in." It's good to see Ted back... even if it's not really him here.

Nightwing is present, as field commander of the Reservists, though he remains standing near the back of the room. He's content to observe for now.

Jesse gives Nightwing a smile and small wave as she espies him across the room.

Ralph sits quietly on one end of the room. This is something he's given a lot of thought to lately, given the state of the league, and his impending return to active duty. He listens to those with something to report, but for now seems to be keeping his own counsel.

Next to him is the ever present wifely unit, opening up more doughnut boxes and few things containing health food for the likes of Diana and Jesse.

She's been pretty quiet since Light's reappearence.

Since most everyone has arrived it is time to start. She has taken the central role in meetings before but it always seems more natural for Kal to have that role.

"Thank you all for assembling under such short notice. As most of you know Dr. Light and his allies attacked S.T.A.R. labs New Orleans research facility. Captain Nazi and D-Bomb were captured but Dr. Light and the rest of his allies escaped along with the items they came for." She pauses to let the fact that while they did capture a couple of the lower players on Light's team this wasn't even close to a victory. "Dr.Light had this planned out well, leaving us scrambling to keep the reactor from melting down while he and the rest of his team were free to escape."

"We have been too reactionary since the Tribunal, for longer than that really, we need to start acting more like a team and a family and less as strangers thrown together not knowing which way to go." She still hasn't sat down, finding standing more comfortable for this.

"It's time to find out where we all stand, see who will be active and who will be reserve as well as fill the holes in our roster."

"At this point I would like to open the floor for discussion."

"Reservist," Plaz says, immediately. "Sorry, folks - I can help out in a jam, but I'm up to my nutzens with personal crap at the moment, and I can't stand on Nathan Jessep's wall 24-7."

Todd arrives late to the meeting. While League business is important, and he's more than willing to take part in it again, his work at the center is right up there as well.

And staying late with the kids seemed a little more important this time around.

In costume but with the mask off, Todd materializes from the shadows in the room.

"No big shock here, but I'd like to stay reserve, and I have a proposal for what I can do up here besides get the donuts and make sure Plaz has a translator."

Despite the somber tone of recent events...and especially the revelation that Ray is stepping down...Superman can't help but feel a bit of hope. The Hawks, Beetle, Vixen, Zauriel and Connor all taking on active status. He knew that Hal was coming back. Himself, Bruce, J'onn, Diana, Wally, Paul...

It's a bit ironic that the man that was part of why the League had fractured in the first place is part of the reason why it's coming back strong.

She's feeling some hope as well, and there was another she wanted for the active roster but it was something that was going to have to wait until after this meeting.

"There is also the business of Aquaman having stepped down, we are short a founder and had left it that way for a short time until we were sure the decision was final." She will miss Arthur and wishes that they could have talked him into taking his place with them again but his home and life must come first.

"Tonight I would like to nominate Ralph Dibney to be our fifth founder."
